A Night to Shine, A Night to Remember: Bringing God Glory Through Our Gifts & Talents

It may still be freezing cold in the Chicago Suburbs (thank you Polar Vortex 2019)- our trees are literally encased in ice this week... but thinking about this past weekend's A Night to Shine event with the Tim Tebow Foundation is warming my heart!

What an honor to spend my evening volunteering at this remarkable event!

Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older. This February 8, 2019, Night to Shine will celebrate its fifth anniversary! On one night, 655 churches from around the world came together to host Night to Shine for approximately 100,000 honored guests through the support of 200,000 volunteers!

Let me paint a picture for you before sharing some of my favorite shots from the night. Close your eyes for a minute and imagine 400+ volunteers at Compass Church in Naperville coming together to orchestrate an evening unlike anything these special 'honored guests' have ever experienced. There were professional hair and makeup artists as well as shoe shiners for the gentlemen, professional photographers, limo rides, a red carpet walk, photo-booths, one-on-one buddies, a Miss Illinois Scholarship Program appearance, a karaoke corner, catered Chick-fil-a dinner, respite rooms for caregivers and family members, a DJ and of course LOTS of dancing!

Quite possibly the best part of the evening, and the signature or pinnacle of the Tim Tebow Foundation's mission was the crowning ceremony. I was honestly brought to tears by the power of this moment when all of the guests of honor were crown Kings and Queens of the prom. Pastors and leaders of Compass Church took the stage to share how special, cared for a loved everyone is in the eyes of God.

I believe our gifts and talents are given to us by God to share the love of His son, Jesus. What could be better than to be a light in this world and come alongside hundreds of other volunteers to share and show His great love? I pray that all of the guests of honor continue to know their value in this world and how much they're truly loved.

Without further ado... more photos from this amazing night!
