  • A: Depending on the time of year, sessions can book up months in advance, especially sessions on Saturdays and Sundays. We book sessions shortly before sunset and book 2-3 weekday sessions per week and 3-4 weekend sessions per month. If you have limited availability or specific location requests or ideas, be sure to reach out to LCP as soon as possible.

To secure a date, you'll need to make arrangements with us via email or phone, sign the contract and make a deposit. All of these details will be discussed at time of booking.

  • Weather and season permitting, your family, maternity, engagement, senior or milestone session will take place at an outdoor location. We have plenty of gorgeous location options depending on the "look" that you're going for. If you have somewhere specific in mind, we are also open to other locations as well. We book sessions shortly before sunset and only book one session per day. Locations more than 15 miles outside of the Naperville area require an additional travel fee as well as any parking expenses paid. When thinking about location options, please keep in mind that some locations may require permits for professional photographers. We always maintain permits for our regular location options, but you may be responsible for extra permit fees if choosing a location outside of our list.

Lifestyle newborn sessions take place indoors in the comfort of your own home, Lindsay will provide more information upon booking about how to prepare your home for lifestyle sessions.

We also offer studio milestone sessions, themed mini sessions, professional/business headshot sessions and branding photography at our Naperville Studio. Milestone sessions may take place outdoors/on-location or at the studio depending on your preference and the season. LCP also offers studio lifestyle newborn sessions or family sessions for smaller families if you feel that your home isn't 'photo ready' or if you prefer that look and style!

  • A: All newborn sessions are typically 2-3 hours in length. Newborn sessions are never rushed due to a baby's needs, so the length of the session greatly depends on the needs of the baby.

You may see lots of gorgeous perfect perched sleepy babies in buckets when scrolling through your Facebook newsfeed. These are considered posed newborn photo sessions, and they are gorgeous! If you're looking for this style, let me know- I have lots of wonderful friends that I would be happy to refer you to! Our family newborn sessions are considered "lifestyle" or "life-inspired" and may take place anytime within the first few weeks. These take place in the comfort of your own home and include naturally posed shots of the baby, parent shots as well as sibling and family shots. Lifestyle newborn sessions focus more on telling a story and creating moments of connect for families. They are fun, natural and all about you and your family! Some families like to use the baby's nursery, their own room, or another special place in their home. As long as there is good natural light flowing in, we can get creative and make it work.

Please contact us for more info on newborn sessions and which type is the right fit for your family. It's best to schedule your newborn session within your 2nd or 3rd trimester so ensure availability on our calendar. We will book your session based off of your due date, and then firm up plans after the baby makes his/her debut!

  • A: We always recommend thinking about the clothing colors and textures you choose for your photo session to help enhance the overall look of your photos.

Generally, complimentary colors that are opposite on the color wheel work best as well as coordinating, but not perfectly matching everything. We can discuss details further upon booking and we are always willing to help coach on outfit choices- you will receive a full prep guide with outfit suggestions upon booking.

Generally speaking, there's no time and no need for outfit changes during family sessions. I prefer to spend our time together capturing memories and love within the family vs. multiple outfits. Milestone sessions, High School Senior sessions & Engagement sessions are all encouraged to have outfit changes within reason. These details will be discussed upon booking.

  • A: The Lindsay Chan Photography portrait contract states that the clients' gallery of edited images will be available 2-4 weeks following the photo session, however we do upload edited galleries as soon as possible in the order in which the sessions took place.

During the busiest times of the year editing may require the full contracted time frame, but normally we edit and upload galleries as soon as possible while working quickly but carefully to edit your final images to perfection.

With the clients' permission and signed release we also upload "sneak peeks" within a few hours following the session via Facebook & Instagram.

  • A: We build rain dates into our schedule! Should Mother Nature decide to change our plans we will reschedule the session if need be, however the need to reschedule due to weather is always determined by LCP.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your booked photo session, 7 days advance notice for cancellation or re-scheduling is required. Failure to do so may result in the loss of your deposit.

  • A: Of course!! We strive to create an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. For family sessions, this includes the kiddos! My educational and work background before pursuing photography full-time was in child development/youth ministry. I have also worked with individuals with physical and developmental disabilities as well as kids and adults with autism spectrum disorders. I handle all situations with patience and understanding, working through any difficulties to make sure we produce great images and still have fun while doing so!
